Red Bull Stratos is scheduled to launch today at 1:30pm! Felix Baumgartner will ride in a capsule carried by a balloon to an altitude of nearly 23 miles and then step out, falling face down and within 40 seconds becoming the first person to break the sound barrier without a vehicle. It will the highest, fastest, longest skydive ever attempted, breaking the records set by Joseph Kittinger in 1960 (using far less technology and no pressurized capsule).

Free falling from space.

Now thats bad-ass

“Perhaps death is not the hardest thing in a painter’s life… Looking at the stars always makes me dream, as simply as I dream over the black dots representing towns and villages on a map. Why, I ask myself, shouldn’t the shining dots of the sky be as accessible as the black dots on the map of France? Just as we take the train to get to Tarascon or Rouen, we take death to reach a star.”

So, today was basically awesome. Why? Because sometimes, ordinary days just are! Lets see, I went to class, talked to some friends I havent seen in awhile, took a nap, did homework, went to Silver Taps (for those of you who aren’t Aggies, click here for more info http://traditions.tamu.edu/traditions/#silvertaps) did more homework and went on a late night run :] Simple and normal, but for some reason, it was just a really good day. That’s all I have to report for now, gotta get back to studying. Until next time!

Thanks and Gig’em!

Sorry I havent posted in a few days, this weekend was crazy (but awesomely) busy! This past weekend was AMAZING!!! It was our first regatta of the fall semester and it was in NEW ORLEANS!!! I know, double awesomeness :] Its an eight hour drive from College Station to New Orleans, but our van managed to make the ride an enjoyable one. We got there around 1:30 and had to be up at 8 to get to SYC in time for the Skippers meeting, so what did we do? Stay up until 4, of course! haha gotta love college kid logic :] After a few hours of sleep, we got up, bought food for breakfast and lunch at a local market and headed to the yacht club. We sailed a few races in the morning but after our lunch break, the wind was nonexistent and we barley got in one race. Oh well, that means we were done earlier :] We grabbed dinner at a bar and grill near the place we were staying, which was awesome because we got to watch the first half of the Aggie game :] We sure did beat the hell outta South Carolina State! :D After dinner, we headed to the famous Bourbon St., which was quite an experience haha Basically, I had an amazing time and can’t wait for our next regatta! Until next time, Thanks and Gig’em! <3
